Interruptions in GlobalReader are time periods where the machine is not working - lowering the machine´s availability and with that overall OEE value. With interruption reasons you can analyzing why the machine was not working and work on improvements.
Interruption occurs when a Minimum interruption time limit set for the machine or for the product in production is exceeded and also if the GlobalReader monitor device is offline.
Interruptions types
Interruption types are divided into three different sub-type:
- Unplanned - interruptions that by type are unexpected and have a negative effect on overall OEE value as the time when the machine should be working it is not. The reason is manually entered by the operator, does not affect OEE. Example: Cleaning, Jam, Machine breakdown
- Planned - an ****interruption that by type was expected and with that has positive effect on the overall OEE value as it is left out of shift time calculations. The reason is manually entered by the operator, does affect OEE (availability) - the duration of the interruption is taken off from Shift time. Example: Power outage
TIP: We suggest list as Planned only such type of interruptions that could have not been avoided to get more precise OEE reading
- Smart - system is choosing automatically smart interruption (type Planned or Unplanned) on added time range and period.
- Recurring - interruption that by type is expected and with repeating pattern (e.g lunch). The system automatically adds the interruptions to the graph for chosen days and times. Same as Planned type has a positive effect on the OEE value - time is left out of machine shift calculations and work done during these breaks is not included in OEE. The reasons are automatically planned to set times in a day based on the configuration, operators can not edit
Interruption groups
Interruption reasons can be grouped together based on different criteria, e.g technical reasons, production-related actions, or departments. If interruption reasons are added to groups it will make finding the suitable reason for defining the machine interruption easier.
Grouping is used when more detailed info is needed. E.g create a group Technical and add all technical reasons to this group. Interruptions can be analyzed by reason and by the group in the reporting section.

How interruption reasons are added?
When the machine does not work for a longer period than set 'Minimum interruption time' or works longer time under the minimum production level than minimum interruption time is set, then undefined interruption is added to the graph. The interruption reasons can be added:
- By operator using Shopfloor feedback feature - operator access operator view and can define the interruption reason from the list of possible reasons from the added interruption reasons for the specific workstation.
