Shifts in the GlobalReader eco-system are needed in order to calculate OEE for the time the machine is scheduled to work. Shifts will provide one of the core elements of the OEE formula - Availability. If shifts are not defined then Dashboard shows an alert and no calculations are being done.

On the Shifts page, you will have an overview of all the shifts added or ever used and also can create new or edit existing ones for all the devices.

Shifts are divided as one-time or recurring based on their occurrence and each main shift-type can be either normal or dynamic by type. Recurring shifts are used to add shift templates for your production factory, for example, recurring day shifts from Monday to Friday 8:00-17:00. One-time shifts on the other are used only on special occasions - e.g extra shifts during the weekend.

Normal Shift

Normal Shift - shift's start and end times are fixed values and GlobalReader starts collecting and storing data for OEE value straight from shift start time until the end of shift. The shift can be one-time or recurring.

How to set up normal shifts?

Dynamical Shift

Dynamical shifts - shifts start and end times for OEE value depend on the machine work or GlobalReader device sensor signal. The dynamical shift has 4 different options and it can be one-time or recurring.

How to add, edit, delete, and inactivate shifts?

When needed each shift can be edited, deleted from a workstation or entirely inactivated. Please read in more detail:

How to inactivate a shift template?

Good to know! There is also a device-specific shifts overview available at each of the device profile Device events
